Volunteer: It Makes a Difference

Has there ever been a time you felt your community needed a change? Are there certain issues that spark your interest? Visit http://www.imaginemiami.org/ and learn of different ways to volunteer. If your interested contact corinnam@imaginemiami.org. Visit the Action Areas section of the Imagine Miami website and explore the areas that inspire you most. You can change the way you interact with your neighbors and collaborate for the same great purpose. It is simple to dedicate some time and spread the word. Put to action what drives you and help make a change. One person can truly make difference!

Creative Impact

In order to produce change there needs to be a direct link between the people in society and the issues that affect it. We know the world is not perfect but helping to fix certain aspects of it, one step at a time, can make a difference. You might not know where to begin, and that is where the Imagine Miami Creative Impact Program comes in. The goal of this program is make the community aware of different issues while at the same time bringing people together and paving a way for change.

Visit http://www.imcreativeimpact.blogspot.com/ and learn more.

IM's Creative Impact program taps the power of arts & culture to ...
* expand citizen voice and participation;
* create a welcoming space for diverse groups to engage in issues and community concerns;
* build community understanding of complex and often divisive issues; and
* motivate people to make change and take action.

If you have arts for social change news or announcements to share, please contact me at jessicag@imaginemiami.org I am particularly interested in projects that exemplify arts/culture for social change, especially in Miami-Dade. Welcome comments and ideas for Creative Impact events are also welcome.

Experience Miami

Miami is pouring with a vast variety of cultures, sometimes overlooked. The population here displays different lifestyles and customs. So why not enjoy and learn from everything Miami has to offer? Instead of going to the usual movie screening go check out a play, an art exhibit, or any other performance. This not only opens your eyes to other aspects of life but allows you to support the arts. This in itself paves way for change around the world, informing people of issues and realities society and humanity deal with every day. Check out http://www.metromix.com/ and find out what is going on in your area, who knows you may be inspired by something you experience.

[Check out this event, an art exhibition dedicated to Miami. Showcasing work reflecting their interpretation of what the city means to them…The opening will take place Wednesday, March 12th. from 7pm to 12am and the exhibit will run through April 12th.]

The world needs people who care, about a change and about the unification of the community. Sometimes it's hard to know where to start or what exactly to do. A little research can go a long way. There are people out there just like you who have the power to change what they don't like about their community, the things that really need help. As a Miami resident I became involved with Imagine Miami which is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing other organizations and businesses together for the sole reason to make Miami a better place. Visit http://www.imaginemiami.org/and find out how you can make a difference. Learn about your community and meet the people in it at one of the IM events. Remember your help can make a difference!
